Terbium chloride - Production method
Tb(OH)3 was reacted with hydrochloric acid, and the aqueous solution was evaporated, concentrated, and cooled to precipitate hexahydrate. In order to avoid the occurrence of hydrolysis in the process of heating dehydration, the vacuum heating dehydration method in the presence of ammonium chloride can be used to remove the water of crystallization. The purpose of adding ammonium chloride is to make the TbOCl generated in the dehydration process by ammonium chloride:
TbOCl+2NH4Cl△TbCl3+2NH3↑+H2O↑
The addition amount of ammonium chloride was 30% of the crystalline material, and the two were mixed well, and then dried at 300 ° C. To prepare a semi-dehydrated material, which was then sent to a dehydration furnace for vacuum heating dehydration. The heating and holding are divided into several stages: Room Temperature & rarr;100 °c & rarr;120 °c & rarr;155 °c & rarr;200 °c. The holding time of each stage depends on the amount of material. The heating rate should not be too fast, otherwise it will produce hydrolysis products. In the dehydration process, the vacuum degree in the dehydration furnace should be maintained at not less than 66.7, and the final dehydration temperature should reach 350. The final product contains 8-10% TbOCl and 5% H2O, and the best product may contain 2-3% TbOCl and 0-5% H2O.
